Rural Broadband Bill Clears House Committee

On Wednesday, the House Ways and Means - Education Committee approved SB 149 by Sen. Clay Scofield (R - Guntersville), which aims to promote investment in broadband in rural Alabama where many citizens do not have access to high speed Internet. The bill, which was unanimously approved by the Senate as a tax credit bill, was substituted in House committee as a grant program administered by ADECA. The program prioritizes un-served areas of the state.
